Out of all of our early human ancestors, during this unit we learned about Australopithecus Afarensis, Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis, and Homo Sapiens Sapiens. Each hominid was more advanced than the ones which came before it. To begin with, Australopithecus Afarensis was the first hominid to be able to walk on two legs, which allowed them to run and walk instead of crawl. They used to crawl like the apes before them but crawling isn't very useful because it requires the hands and the feet, but walking on two legs on the other hand is a lot more useful because then your hands are free to eat, pick things up, or even to create things.
After that, Homo Habilis came along. Homo Habilis was more advanced than Australopithecus Afarensis, and was able to make tools In Fact that's why they are called Homo Habilis handy man, the ability to make tools allowed them to hunt for food.
Next came Homo Erectus. In addition to what Homo Habilis could do, Homo Erectus was able to control fire, which by the ability to cook other than eating raw and getting sick because of that and it also helped by keeping them and the tribe warm.
After Homo Erectus came Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis. They were able to more tools than handy man such as knives and scrapers and spears., which allowed them to hunt more efficiently.
Finally, along came Homo Sapiens Sapiens, or “Early Modern Man.” These advanced hominids were able to paint, which allowed them to record their information or what they saw..
